Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor
Position Overview
The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor is a highly skilled rehabilitation professional responsible for delivering comprehensive vocational evaluation, counseling, and placement services in support of workers’ compensation claims. This role requires knowledge of vocational rehabilitation, labor market analysis, transferable skills, and loss of wage earning capacity determinations. The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor works collaboratively with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to support effective claim outcomes and successful return to work strategies.
Core Responsibilities
• Prepare high quality vocational reports, including but not limited to Loss of Wage-Earning Capacity, Independent Vocational Evaluation, Job Search Verification, Labor Market Attachment, and Addendum reports, demonstrating a clear understanding of the unique aspects of each file.
• Review and analyze prior medical, vocational, and employability services to determine case direction and ensure continuity and accuracy of findings.
• Identify and clearly document changes in findings, inconsistencies, or discrepancies across medical, vocational, and claim documentation.
• Develop, implement, and modify individualized vocational rehabilitation plans that align with medical restrictions, job demands, and claim objectives.
• Counsel clients on vocational goals, career planning, and employment options, and coordinate services necessary to support suitable job placement.
• Conduct file reviews and provide concise summaries of services performed, vocational factors, and employability considerations.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of workers’ compensation claims, including the adjuster’s goals and how vocational services impact claim outcomes.
• Apply advanced knowledge of the world of work, job goal development, and labor market conditions.
• Ensure quality assurance of Labor Market Survey work, including evaluating the suitability of identified jobs.
• Prioritize workload effectively to meet deadlines and maintain productivity standards.
• Interpret and apply medical restrictions in relation to job demands and seek clarification when information is unclear.
• Maintain current knowledge of applicable policies, regulations, and vocational rehabilitation standards; assist in updating procedures as needed.
• Testify competently when required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience performing vocational counseling services, preferably within workers’ compensation.
• Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) credential.

Job Type: Full-Time
Pay Range: $65,000 - $90,000
